Orthokine therapy for Meniere’s disease

A look at new stem cell treatment for Meniere’s disease to renew balance and hearing nerves. A cure or relief? Finding your original cause for your Meniere’s symptoms.

 Orthokine therapy for Meniere’s disease

Dr. Peter Wehling Founder of The Center for Molecular Orthopedics in Dusseldorf, Germany has developed a procedure where the patient’s own blood is taken, incubated and manipulated then reintroduced into the body and acts as a “natural” anti-inflammatory. Originally this was used for treating sports people to combat chronic pain, usually in joints. The treatment is called “Orthokine” therapy.

Orthokine Therapy is a form of injection therapy, which harnesses and enhances the bodies natural defense mechanisms against inflammation to reduce pain and improve function.

The Orthokine Procedure

  • Blood is taken from the patient. The procedure is carried out similarly to a blood sampling for laboratory testing and is not pain-associated
  • Blood is incubated at 37°C, which stimulates the production of IL-1Ra.
  • Using a laboratory centrifuge to separate the blood components, the protein is extracted
  • This extraction is filed in ampoules, later available in injection form
  • The protein is then injected within the painful area of the joints, using CT guidance

Typically, injections are given 1-2 times a week. Treatment for discogenic diseases requires 4 injections, while lesions of the joints of the extremities, a minimum of 6 injections are usually required. Following injections, patients are advised to avoid strenuous exercise for a period of 48 hours. Some side effects may include swelling and numbness around the injection site, which may last around 2 hours

The ear is affected by inflammation in Meniere’s disease and the procedure is said to have been developed further where it may be possible for the hearing and balance nerves damaged by Meniere’s to be healed. Dana White, the UFC President recently received this treatment in Germany is said to feel “cured”.

It can not be said to be a cure as such because it doesn’t deal with the original cause (something we have been spending a lot of time on of late) but if it can be combined with finding the original cause, be it viral, spinal and neck misalignment, exposure to chemicals or drugs, autoimmune problems, dental or Jaw misalignments or whatever, not only can we deal with the cause and fix it but there is the possibility perhaps of reversing the long standing effects and results of years of vertigo attacks and constant pressure within the inner ear that have caused hearing deterioration and balance nerve damage.

All this is a far cry from the much misinformed and common assumption among many in the medical community that Meniere’s disease is a condition or syndrome that can not be put right. Maybe there will come a day soon when doctors will stop telling patients to just take the same old diuretics and tranquilizers and telling them to “learn to live with it” or refer them for steroid injections and invasive surgery, neither of which addresses the cause; only the symptoms.

Is Orthokine therapy for Meniere’s disease for everyone?

Orthokine therapy may come at a cost of a five figure sum and although is becoming more available it is still quite rare. If you have the kind of money Dana White has then it has to be an option worth considering but for the vast majority it may be financially and practically out of reach for the time being.

As orthokine therapy is not a recognized specific treatment for Meniere’s disease it is unlikely you will be able to get this offered on national health nor be covered by insurance. You will need to find a private clinic and talk about your options.

However, ridding yourself of Meniere’s is still very possible without this therapy. Click the link to the article below to learn more.

Has anyone tried BioSet for menieres? My girlfriend got so bad I had to take her to the E ward, she couldn’t even get out of bed without help, you all know what I am talking about. Anyway, feeling that menieres is triggered by things like allergies and body imbalances, I took her to a woman in my area that does Dr. Ellen Cutler’s BioSet. The very first visit/treatment was astounding, she left the room 75% better, couldn’t believe my eyes. Now, understand that several treatments need to be done to address blockages, sensitivities, imbalances, etc., but it is the best thing that has worked for her. She is in it for two months, got a setback when a craniosacral therapist who was not good scrambled everything the BioSet fixed, so she had to start over again. But she continues to improve. I also want to have her see an upper cervical chiropractor since she had whiplash in an auto accident, and that could be causing some of her issues. If you have a BioSet practioner near you, check it out, I think you will be impressed.

How is the treatment going? My husband has been suffering from Meniers for 2 plus years he has been seeing an upper cervical chiro which seemed to help but they cut him back from weekly to every 2 weeks and he started having vertigo again so he is now going more often. We are looking into Bioset and possibly stem cell in Germany, has anyone seen research or done the stem cell?

Ive had it for 8 years and still going.
Just had 2 week constant attack. Itd debikitating in all areas in my life. Im sure yall know what I’m talking about. Ive been to upoer cervical chiropractor, but made things worse.
