I have just added 5 messages from people who have either reduced the severity of their symptoms or now live Meniere’s Disease symptom free. Just click on the Meniere’s Success Stories tab at the top of the page to read. For the most part these people used dietary changes and changes in lifestyle to combat their condition.
This is the one of the most common themes but there are many contributing factors to consider beyond diet and lifestyle when you want to overcome Meniere’s.
Discussed are surgical options for people with Meniere’s Disease, such as an endolymphatic shunt implant and vestibular nerve section, and the implications.
Unfortunately, in my case surgery wasn’t successful. However, within a year of the failed surgery I was able to live free from 95% of the symptoms of Meniere’s disease for 10 years with lifestyle changes and dietary changes. The surgery was in 2001.
In addition to this, since 2012 I have been completely free of the symptoms of Meniere’s disease. It is now 2020.
Surgery for Meniere’s disease is indeed an option. For most, a last resort. But there may more ways to beat this condition, whether it be by managing your symptoms enough to live a normal life again or freeing yourself completely by finding and dealing with your own individual root cause(s).
Treatments and alternative treatments for Menieres, such as diuretics, blood flow enhancers, acupuncture, tranquilizers such as valium, Chlorella, ginkgo and the general approach in Japan are discussed in part 5 of Mike’s Meniere’s Story
Also discussed is the effect of allergies, air pressure and the weather on Meniere’s.
In this part of my story I talk about the connections with Meniere’s and sodium, alcohol, stress, vertigo, brain fog and exhaustion.
These are all things familiar to people who suffer with Menieres disease. Don’t take Meniere’s for granted relates to the fact there are many things that can help, there are many things that can make your condition worse and there can be periods where the symptoms disappear, only to reappear later.
The key is to know what influences your symptoms negatively and positively.
It is also important to not take for granted the fact that you have an incurable disease and nothing more can be done. This is the biggest misperception regarding Meniere’s.
You absolutely CAN learn how to successfully manage the horrendous symptoms of this condition and you can live a normal healthy life again.
Email us with your experiences with Meniere’s at meniereshelp@gmail.com
So far items discussed have been how alcohol affects people with Meniere’s, how diet is a factor, vertigo, the medications: stemitil, meclizine, Serc (betahistine) and hydroclorothiazide.
In this latest post I talk about the unpredictability of Menieres and how physical fitness can possibly have a huge positive effect.
