Cellular Nutrition and Meniere’s Disease

Dr Strand was one of the doctors credited with originally putting together the regimen of supplements discussed on Meniere’s Help and elsewhere. This regimen has been successfully used by sufferers to support their immune system and keep symptoms either to a  minimum or suppress them completely since the late 1990’s.

Why cellular nutrition is important for Meniere’s Sufferers

In this very informative video he talks about the concept of ‘healthy cells’ and the importance of nutrition in avoiding and in some cases reversing degenerative diseases and health conditions such as Meniere’s Disease.

For 23 years he was opposed to and did his best to put patients off the idea of supplements, claiming they just produced “expensive urine” and had no benefits.

Listen to how and why he changed his mind.

Of course he plugs his website and Doctors practice at the end. But this is a very informative and important video for anyone considering trying these supplements used with such success. Perhaps especially the more skeptical of us.

We have long touted the benefits of one supplement product we use which has grape seed extract as its main ingredient, based on the experiences of our readers. Listen to Dr Strand’s opinion on this.

Tips for Managing Sodium Intake

Balancing Sodium Intake with Meniere’s

If you think salt isn’t a problem if you have Meniere’s disease or if you are struggling to manage your salt (sodium ) intake to help reduce your Meniere’s Disease symptoms, here is an article with some good advice and a slightly shocking (in terms of the amount we are all consuming – for everyone) video.

Personally, when I suffered from Meniere’s ( I no longer have it) I never counted the mgs, as some doctors will advise, but I never added salt to my meals at the table. If I ever did eat junk food (not a good idea if you have Meniere’s ) I always asked for no added salt on my fries. And generally I tried not to eat salty food.

Sodium is an essential mineral for life however. The trick is finding balance. To read more about how you can balance your intake of salt, reduce your Meniere’s symptoms and still benefit from the need for sodium read here:

Hi Michael,

Now into my fourth month of taking the supplements. Feeling great. Lots of energy, no dizzy spells and a clear head. Still have the tinnitus and poor hearing in my right ear but these are very definitely at livable levels. Am also finding that I don’t need to be quite so careful with the salt intake. Of course, I am careful most of the time but if I have a meal out for example I don’t notice it. I can also enjoy a glass of wine now!

Here’s a funny thing: I normally eat mostly a vegetarian diet as my partner is vegetarian but lately I’ve been really craving meat and fish.

Many thanks

Lizzie

Meniere’s Disease and paid Leave from work

Meniere’s Disease and paid Leave from work – Do your managers know the FMLA ‘contact’ rule?

Kathleen Hofferica, a registered nurse, was granted intermittent FMLA leave for an inner ear disorder known as Meniere’s disease.

Hofferica then took extended leave to get treatment for the disorder. She said she regularly provided her supervisor with updates on her condition, but her manager often failed to return her calls.

Just before she was scheduled to return, Hofferica submitted a certification saying she could return to work but needed a one-week extension.

The manager never called her back. Instead, she received a letter saying she’d been fired for exceeding the agreed-to amount of FMLA leave.

Hofferica filed suit, claiming the hospital retaliated against her for taking leave.

The court agreed and she won her case.
